"Ikirezi" is a word in the Kirundi language that means “precious pearl.” This word is commonly used to describe the unique qualities and gifts within every person. At the Ikirezi Multicultural Institute, our goal is to help every child discover and develop their Ikirezi gifts, enabling them to thrive in Maine.
Ikirezi Multicultural Institute provides innovative programming aimed at resolving the challenges faced by new immigrant youths in Maine. Our goal is to address the lack of adequate after-school programs that support their engagement in sports, arts, culture, and academic activities. We empower diverse youth, promote cultural enrichment, and facilitate their integration into their communities.
